Happiness, is one of those driving goals in our lives that we seek to attain at all costs.
It is the element that puts a smile on your face, and opens possibilities never before seen. It is the state that allows us to laugh, and enjoy life. When you find the things that make you happy, it is an experience, never forgotten.
In searching for that happiness, we can be quite destructive to everything around us. Annihilating things without even realizing it.
When that happiness is taken from you, by forces outside of your control, the effects can be devastating. It can feel like the color in the world, drained slightly, or blurred out of focus, making everything you see, not as vibrant as it once was. The hole in your chest, and the emptiness that resides there now, you know, was once home to that happiness, replaced by a void of darkness, and torment.
That darkness, deepens somehow, when you think of it, because you know, what you once had. Happiness.
That knowledge becomes the problem, the knowing. People will tell you, you will be happy again. You will find that which makes you happy once more. The knowing. You know you will find a measure of happiness again, but you also know that in doing so, there is that knowledge. The knowledge that, your happiness, is somehow different, less potent than it had once been. It will be different than the happiness you want for yourself, because you deserve to be happy. And once again, others will tell you, you will be happy again.
That damn knowledge. Knowing that whatever it was that made you happy before, will not be a possibility for you any longer. The goal then becomes, living with that. Understanding that, the thing that made you happy before, is no longer an option, and that the “new” happiness you find, might not ever measure up to what you had before. And it might not hold the same meaning that it once did.
That knowledge will be yours to bare, for many others around you, will not understand what you have lost, when you tell them that your happiness is gone. Do not try to push the matter. Do not try and make them understand. If they cannot understand it, well then…
Another type of happiness is out there for you, it will just be, different. Accepting that, and moving toward that goal, must be done, if for no other reason, than to save yourself. It becomes your lifeline, your life preserver, in your flooded world.
That search for a new happiness, can consume us. Making us blind to the things around us that are important, or unaware of what destruction we have caused. In searching for that happiness, make sure to be aware of your surroundings, be it places, or people, and make sure they are not caught in the fallout of that search.
Doing so with an understanding of the destructive nature of the search, can show you the possibilities that you may seek, in your quest for happiness.
We all deserve to be happy.
And when you find yours, don’t let it go. Make sure it is the happiness you seek. And if it is, you can allow yourself to smile, knowing you have found it.
Enjoy what you do.
