The World of So’Var 2

Today I want to explain a little about the world of So’Var.

So’Var started as a single piece of paper. A simple, little map, for an RPG game. What it quickly became, is an obsession. My love of writing kicked in, and off I went. Before I knew what happened, I had a city called Naz’Dorn, airships created by House Marrith, in a floating city called Set’sorrion, and a continent called Theris.

In my mind, mountains erupted from the ground to create the ranges that split the continent, while rivers burst forth to flow over the land, grasses grew in the plains, and harsh winds blew sands through a desert. Forests suddenly grew as lakes and oceans filled. Island chains formed and other continents erupted from the oceans, while storms swept in and covered the southern hemisphere of the planet. My mind allowed the serpent and lizard, to evolve, while other creatures came into being, including a monkey that likes shiny things and teleports using rocks. Unknown gods arrived and started to take shape, like the rest of the world.

To say that I have slight OCD tendencies, or that when I am interested in something, that I tend to find out all I can, or obsess over it, is like saying that if you fill a pool with gasoline and hit it with a flame thrower, it might catch fire.

So’Var had come into being. People, places, creatures, plants, weather and water patterns. And then something occurred to me. It wasn’t enough. I needed to know about the people that lived there. That is where this comment happened;

“This is what I have so far.”

“So Var? What in the hell is a So Var?”

I thought it was funny so I named my world So’Var. The amount of enjoyment I got when I created So’Var, is not as high as when I write about it. That difference sealed my fate. I had to expand So’Var, just so I could find more things to write about.

A single sheet of paper.

A single sheet of paper, turned into one of the most enjoyable pastimes I have.

Find your So’Var. Enjoy what you do.

    It’s more than a ‘pastime’…it is what you were born to do. You’re VERY good and every second of your VERY interesting lived experience will inform your brilliant writing.
